Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering is preferred, similar experience will be considered.
  • Experience with setup and manipulation of Fanuc or ABB 6 axis robotics.
  • 7+ years working with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, PLC’s, Windows, Automation and/or Robotics.

 

Skills / Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively through excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess particularly good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Command of MS Office SW Products.
  • Working knowledge or experience with ERP data entry, EpiCor a plus.
  • Ability to deliver Presentations in front of Technical or Commercial Customer staffing.
  • Calm demeanor in the face of adversity.
  • Excellent listening and reasoning skills.
  • Mentor to others.
  • Team player.

 

Work Environment:

  • Industrial / Production where safe work habits are required.
  • Investment Casting Industry - Wax Room Injection, Assembly and Automation applications.
  • Ability to travel worldwide as required ( approx. 50% to 70% of the time)

Responsibilities

Pre-Sales:

  • Work directly with Sales and Service to support a custom opportunity from a technical aspect.
  • Identify the customer’s application and position MPI products to address the customers’ needs.
  • Knowledge of the mechanical assemblies that complement the options within the machine / automation cell.
  • Knowledge of wax room operations, how the equipment is used by the customer with an understanding of what matters most to customers.
  • Participate in presentations, customer calls and onsite visits to support the technical requirements of a sale.
  • Review Technical Specifications from the customer and respond in writing to support the sales effort.
  • Consult MPI engineering when required and collaborate on a developing a technical solution / strategy.
  • Work as a key member of the Sales team to win the customers’ confidence and secure the customer’s order.

 

Post-Sales:

  • Review Sales Order and confirm the configuration matches the customer’s technical requirements of the sale.
  • Support technical documentation to assist with obtaining customer design sign-off.
  • Support the schedule set up by the Project Manager to ensure a successful design, build and delivery.
  • Liaison with Engineering during the design phase to ensure all Engineering questions are addressed.
  • Function as a primary technical point person between Sales and the rest of functional groups within MPI.
  • Support preliminary testing and Factory Acceptance Testing to ensure that the product application/solution is functioning according to specifications and purchase order.
  • Support Field Service and Site Acceptance Testing as required.
  • Conduct customer specific training as required.
  • Set up new products in the field by adjusting robotic tool points as required.

 

General:

  • Sound understanding of electro-mechanical design, drawing practices, geometric tolerances, and dimensioning regarding machine tool design.
  • Previous experience with OEM / capital equipment support, with automation/robotics.
  • Knowledge base of PLC ladder logic operations and controls is desirable.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting Vision systems, Conveyors, End of Arm Tooling.
  • Understanding of machine bill of materials, machine costing and review of machine pricing.
  • Make recommendations that will reduce costs and improve the product efficiency.
  • Answer inquiries into sales providing technical response and guidance to customers.
  • Ability to assist Sales with developing technical training and presentations.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Service to create technical strategies to grow the market share.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Engineering to produce a synergistic message to MPI’s customers.
  • Utilize MPI’s preferred ERP system to effectively document and communicate within MPI.
  • Capable and willing to be “hands on” as required to solve technical matters in the factory or in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
